Hello Outlaws!
We've put together this FAQ to answer the most burning questions we've seen from all of you. If we missed anything, don't hesitate to ask, we'll do our best to answer.
Q: How much will Hood: Outlaws & Legends cost?
The base game costs €29.99/$29.99 and the Year 1 Edition (which includes the base game, and year 1 Battle Pass Pack) costs €49.99/$49.99.
Q: What platforms is the game on?
Hood will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC (Steam, Epic Game Store).
Q: What are the minimum and recommended system requirements ?
- Minimum: Windows 10 (64-bit) / CPU:AMD FX 6300 X6 or Intel Core i5-3570K / RAM: 8GB / GPU: 2 GB VRAM, Radeon HD 7870 or GeForce GTX 660 / DirectX: Version 12, Note: 40 FPS, 1920x1080 in low.

Q: Will there be Crossplay?
Hood: Outlaws & Legends will feature matchmaking crossplay, meaning a shared player pool between platforms, in order to have quick queue times.
While matchmaking will draw from different platforms, it will not be possible to invite players from other platforms to your team at launch. This is because we decided early in the project that we didn't want to impose an account creation on players.
It means you can play the game without having to create a "Hood account”, making for a smoother experience when you start the game, and we're happy about that!
But it also means we have no way to track each user outside of their own platform ecosystem (Steam, PlayStation account, Xbox account, etc.), which means we can't create bridges between platforms, including invitations.
It would be great to bring this after release, but we'll have to evaluate how much players want this because this is a big chunk of work for the team and will impact other features and content. As for anything when you develop a game, it will be a tough choice but guided by player feedback.
Q: Will there be cross-region squadding?
You will be able to invite friends to your squad, regardless of where they are. The server that will be used is the one closest to the host of the squad. Please be aware that if you play in a region far from you, you will experience a higher latency.
Q: Does Hood use dedicated servers?
Yes! Even if you'll see the word "Host" in the top left, this only indicates they are the squad leader.
Q: What are the Server locations?
In order to balance keeping queue times short and having servers in central locations, we’ve opted for the following: North America West, North America East, Europe, and Asia (Singapore).
Q: Can I opt out of cross-platform matchmaking?
Yes, you have the option to opt out of cross-platform matchmaking if you prefer.
Q: Will there be Microtransactions?
There will not be any microtransactions in Hood. All cosmetics in the base game are earned by playing the game, and post-launch cosmetics can be acquired through the Battle Pass or through free seasonal challenges/events.
Q: Are wide formats supported?
Wide formats will not be officially supported at launch, but it’s definitely possible for post-launch. If you are one of the people who are looking for wide format support, please let us know!
Q: Will there be post-launch support? Battle pass?
Hood: Outlaws & Legends will have full post-launch support, comprising free updates with new characters, maps, game modes and more. The paid Year 1 Battle Pass will also add a host of exclusive cosmetics for every character.
New content with an impact on gameplay will be free for all owners of the base game. We will have more specifics about post-launch plans before release.
On top of new content, free updates will also serve to continue improving the game experience and balancing. Community feedback will be an invaluable source for this.
Q: Will there be a PvE-only mode?
The core and main mode of Hood: Outlaws & Legends will be the "Heist mode" in which you play in a squad of four players against the State (PvE) and an opposing squad of outlaws (PvP).
The whole game is built and balanced around this mode and it will be the focus of our efforts.
That being said, the game will also feature a PvE mode in which you can play alone or with friends in the same maps but without an opposing player team. This is basically a training mode in which you'll be able to learn the map layout and character skills.
We still strongly encourage everyone to play in Heist mode as this is what we consider to be the true Hood experience, but we're not here to decide what should be fun and what isn't for you. If you have a great time in PvE, it will be there, even though it definitely won't be our focus.
Q: How will respawning work?
We’ve already received valuable feedback in the three Closed Betas we’ve had. One thing we’ve seen is that some players are interested in a more hardcore experience where there is a limited number of respawns. We’ll be monitoring feedback on this for post-launch updates.
Q: Will there be a Custom Lobby?
You will of course be able to squad with up to three friends to look for matches together, but we won’t have custom lobbies with two teams of 8 players at launch.
Q: Will there be a Ranked Mode?
There will not be a separate ranked mode at launch, but we will consider adding it post-launch if the demand is there.
Having said that, skill-based matchmaking will still exist, and you will be matched against other players of similar level and skill as you.
Q: Will there be anti-cheat?
Yes, we will be using EasyAntiCheat (EAC).
Q: Can you have more than one of each character on a team?
Yes, you can even have a quad-Tooke team if you’re feeling particularly spicy. Once a match starts however, you are locked in until it’s over.
Q: What are the System Requirements?
Minimum: Windows 10 (64-bit) / CPU:AMD FX 6300 X6 or Intel Core i5-3570K / RAM: 8GB / GPU: 2 GB VRAM, Radeon HD 7870 or GeForce GTX 660 / DirectX: Version 12, Note: 40 FPS, 1920x1080 in low.
Recommended: Windows 10 (64-bit) / CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 or Intel Core i5-8600K / RAM: 16 GB/ GPU: 6 GB VRAM, Radeon RX 590 or GeForce GTX 1060 / DirectX: Version 12, Note: 60 FPS, 1920x1080 in ultra.
Q: Can we preload the game?

On consoles: Friday the 7th at 00:01 local time
Q: How big will the download be?
Steam: 20GB
PS5, PS4: 15GB
Xbox One: 15GB
Xbox Series X | S: 30GB
Q: How do I opt out of crossplay matchmaking?
In the options menu (Escape/Options/Start), you can opt out of crossplay matchmaking in the “Gameplay” tab. Please note that this option allows you to reduce your queueing time and that we recommend keeping it activated.
Q: How do I invite my friends to my squad?
You can do this in-game via the Team/Invites menu. On console platforms, this is also possible through the system menus.
Q: When will the pre-order bonus be unlocked?
On Playstation, Xbox and Steam: the Forest Lords Pack contents will be unlocked on the early release day (May 7).
Q: Can I earn XP in the training mode?
The training mode doesn’t allow players to get XP or gold. It is made only to get to know the maps, and practice vs the AI guards. We will be expanding on our PvE options post launch.
Q: How can I deactivate voice chat?
There is a setting within the game’s audio options to enable or disable voice chat, as well as further options for muting specific players, and altering the volume of voice chat. Depending on your platform, there may also be further system options for tuning voice chat.
Q: Is there a push-to-talk option?
Yes, it is deactivated by default. You can activate it in the “Audio” tab of the options menu as well. Push-to-talk is only available on PC.
Q: How can I communicate with my teammates if I don’t want to voice chat?
There is an in-built comms wheel/tagging system in the game. This allows you to tag any relevant place within view, and highlight objects of interest for your teammates (enemy players, enemy AI, ammo boxes, etc.). Using the comms wheel, you can also give direction to your teammates to attack, defend, go to a specific point, or come to you.
Q: How do I report a player?
There is an in-built system for reporting players, situated in the Options menu. Here you can report a player for offensive language, verbal harassment, unsportsmanlike conduct, cheating, or for having an inappropriate username.
You can report a player you’re currently playing with or against from the “Report player” tab in the options menu. You can also report a player from the last game you played by accessing the options menu in the Hideout.
Q: Is there a penalty for leaving a match?
No, there is no penalty for leaving a match, other than missing out on any rewards that the player might earn as part of the rest of that match.

Q: Can I invite players on a different platform?
Unfortunately there are no cross-platform lobbies available in Hood. That is because we decided early in the project that we didn’t want to impose an account creation on players.
However, you can invite PS4 players to join you if you play on PS5 and vice-versa. Same goes for Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One. On PC, a Steam user can invite an Epic Game Store user to join his game, provided the latter has linked his Steam acount to his EGS one.
Q: My DLC isn’t showing yet, is that normal?
If you purchased Hood: Outlaws & Legends from a non-official shady store, your DLC (Forest Lords Pack and Year 1 Battle Pass) may not appear in the game. In that case, we can't guarantee you will get what you paid for because we have no way to track keys from non-official key stores. You will have to contact the customer support of these retailers.
